Synopsis:

Sound & Vision: Artists Tell Their Stories allows visitors to explore selected clips from EMP|SFM’s filmed oral history interview collection. Over the past 15 years, the institution has filmed over 800 interviews with musicians across all genres, and more recently with film/television personalities and science fiction luminaries. The institution's oral history program and archive is one of its most culturally valuable offerings. Sound & Vision was designed to raise public awareness about this remarkable collection.

Jasen Emmons and Jacob McMurray conceived of the exhibition at a Brazilian restaurant in Glendale in 2006. After myriad plates of various meats and several caipirinhas, the exhibition concept coalesced. The idea was to create an engaging exhibition experience without any objects whatsoever. Our feeling was that the people and their stories were so engaging that they solely could carry the exhibition.
